7th June 2023.
After a hard days night of watching Test Match cricket I decided to treat myself and my brother Andy (who isn’t my brother) to a carvery at our favourite dining spot overlooking the “Grand Old Lady” herself. It was 7pm rather than the usual finishing time for me of 7am when watching Test Match cricket. I prefer the darkness of the darkest nights at 3am, wrapped tightly to a hot water bottle and beneath a pile of duvets all whilst the action plays out on the other side of the world and in much more pleasantly warm temperatures. I’m a contrarian. I rail against the machine when I can.
And I go to Ironbridge. A lot. But rarely as late into a Summer’s evening as on Wednesday 7th June, and all for a carvery with a brother who isn’t my brother, and a carvery that is now a Fancy Dan set menu that was rather delicious if a little tiny! My brother and I were expecting a carvery feast fit for a King. Instead we fine dined like friends whilst I said I was “really proud” of my new book about 187 times.
It’s cricket season my friends. Rejoice! Here’s my spiritual home bathed in some early evening sunshine and looking as beautiful as she always does.

Thanks for reading. If you enjoyed this pictorial stroll, tell your friends! If you really enjoyed it, tell your enemies too! Anyway, here are my three most recently published articles that can be found within my “UK Travel” library:
