After a long day of watching Test Match cricket, what better way to end such a luxurious day of indulgence than by a bag of piping hot fish and chips and a chat with the “Grand Old Lady” of Ironbridge. I’ve written at length on my love affair with this little piece of heaven here on earth, “gleaming in the sun” of a Bruce Springsteen song. A cursory glance at my “UK Travel” library will prove this so.
No preamble this time, just a hearty endorsement that should your travelling feet ever feel the itch of exploration in the beating heart of central England, I cannot recommend this World Heritage accredited site any more if you paid me. Once you’re within earshot of the bells of St Luke’s Church you’ll be transported to a different century in a time zone and atmosphere all uniquely its own, and you’ll never feel more alive or at peace with the world.
