Fancy an ice cream? Stratford-upon-Avon, Tuesday 9th August 2022 (Author’s Collection).
This penultimate edition of my long, lazy and beautiful day in the sunshine of Stratford-upon-Avon is also the last of my ridiculously titled “Deleted Scenes”. To have one article alone of so called deleted scenes would seem reckless enough but as I had such a magical day in Shakespeare’s sunshine there are a grand total of 9 separate articles with 3 of these full of images such as the ones that follow that didn’t quite make the cut. Now this is not to say that the following images are defective or of little narrative use. These are simply minor duplicates of images already used or from a slightly different angle or simply images capturing the same portion of the canal/river/church or bustling streets of Stratford already showcased more fully in the main articles.
Furthermore, these images are of a day I’ll treasure for a long time to come and frankly they’re too good to sit in a folder on a laptop being unloved.
I walked the canal/river loop around the streets of Shakespeare’s Stratford twice on a glorious day and this final volume of hence far unseen material covers a continuation of my walk around the canal “basin”, back and forth along the banks of the River Avon before we end with some unused images from the house and birth place of William Shakespeare and some final unused images of the winding streets of Stratford before we finally end where we began many hours before, on the banks again of the River Avon.
There are over 30 images that follow and I sincerely hope you enjoy this final pictorial stroll of hence far unseen images captured in some beautiful English sunshine.
*All images captured by me on Tuesday 9th August 2022*
To pick up this long and meandering tale we have now walked the length of the river back into central Stratford to now cross the footbridge ahead via the marina, a marvellous saxophonist standing on a stone carved human sundial before we navigate our way around the canal. Welcome (back) to Stratford-upon-Avon!
One of the very few and as yet unused images captured from a very busy marina
A final and magnificent wide shot from the footbridge across the expanse of the river and the RSC or Royal Shakespeare Company building dominating the skyline.
(1) Two unused images of the amateur saxophonist who entertained a growing crowd with both older and more contemporary tunes, all whilst within a stone carved human sundial and with *that* backdrop. Not a bad way to spend a few minutes in the sunshine is it?

A final sun kissed image of the swans who’ve made Stratford their permanent home and the river meandering in the direction of the Holy Trinity Church.
“Jennifer May” negotiating the canal lock that leads to the River Avon.
“Messing about on the river”.
A final unused image of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Unused image of The Bard with his birthplace over his bronzed left shoulder.
The giftshop that resides next to the town’s most famous building of all.
(1) The house that built a legend.
(2) The house that built a legend.

The Jester from “As you like It”.
A final farewell to The Bard and the bustling life that surrounds him.
The Tudor period architecture leading to the town’s main designated “Town Hall”.
Many of the town’s remaining architectural beauties are now hotels, eateries and coffee shops.
A pleasingly named bookshop and the stroke of 3pm at The Guild Chapel.
The Guild Chapel of Stratford-upon-Avon. Founded in the year 1269.
“Donated by Portsmouth City Council”. The city and crest of my birthplace, roughly 120 miles away.
(1) Two final side/reverse views of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) building.

With clouds now threatening to cover the almost unbroken sunshine of the day, an odd angle of the “Big Wheel” captured beside one of the last working chain ferries in England.
The “chain ferry” of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Some final images mainly dominated by the town’s “Big Wheel”.
I tried, in vain, to capture the silver swan sculptured fountain and the RSC building. I’ll try again on my next visit.
One final image from “Bridgefoot” overlooking the canal basin of Stratford.
A final unused image from the “Gower Memorial” that immortalises four key characters from the plays of William Shakespeare.
A final childishly pleasing image of the “Big Wheel”.
The Bandstand and the walk through the Recreation Ground and back to the car.
Thanks for the memories Stratford.
