A sister or companion article to “Adderley Locks amid thundery skies” linked below, this brief walk followed shortly after my walk a few miles away at Adderley and very pleasingly, in the exact same manner as you would expect from the friendliness of life surrounding a canal. Whereas in Adderley I was offered a glass of lemonade by a lady as she waited to navigate the canal locks and chatted with a passing cyclist as we admired the beautiful sight afforded us from a canal bridge, here in Market Drayton I swapped stories with a passing gentleman clad in a “Space Invaders” t-shirt and met a 7 year old black poodle by the name of “Bobby” who, after spending a great part of his life in a home, now resides on a canal boat with two lovely human beings and couldn’t be more friendly if you paid him!
Rolled over at my feet and refused to allow me to stop petting him!
A highlight of a rather drab walk if I’m honest and (a) far different from when I remembered my walk here this time last Summer and (b) not as good as my previously released articles. Hey, you can only work with the conditions ahead of you and the cards you are dealt. Or perhaps you’ll love these images as they’re a little more rustic and authentic than the usual array of sunshine filled images I post. Who knows? Some of them have a heavy tinge of being “moody” too, but that could just be me.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this brief pictorial stroll through Market Drayton on the Shropshire Union Canal.
